Classes
1) Wedding Cake
Can be one, two or more tiers. The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, posy picks, wire, stamens. Pillars, skewers and cake stands permitted. Total base area not to exceed 60cm square. No height restriction. With cleats.



1a) Wedding Cake Open (see definition)
An original design Formal Wedding cake consisting of a minimum of two tiers. The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, posy picks, wire, stamens. Pillars, skewers and cake stands permitted. No cut-outs or moulds to be used. Flower / leaf cutters and veiners may be used for flower making only. Total base area not to exceed 76.2cm square. No height restriction. Cleats must be attached to the bottom of the board.



2) Celebration Cake
Must be for a formal occasion. The cake to be one tier and must include a suitable inscription. The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, posy picks, wire, stamens. Pillars, skewers and cake stands permitted. Total base board not to exceed 41cm square. Cleats must be attached to the bottom of the board.


3) Painted Plaque
Flower paste plaque can be any shape or size up to 20cm. Plaque edge to be left plain like a picture ready to be framed. Each plaque will stand on an easel (supplied by the organising committee). Total size 20cm.



4) Floral Spray
All flowers and greenery to be made of icing. The spray is to be made up of a number of flowers, fillers and foliage arranged so that it can be held by one stem only. Each spray must have a focal point. The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: Tulle, ribbon, florist tape, wire, stamens. The spray to be displayed on a grey covered board 25cm by 20cm supplied by the organising committee. Maximum size no longer and wider than 20cm x 15cm.



4a) Open Floral Class (see definition)
An Autumn Spray Centre Piece. This arrangement can use a combination of nuts, berries, foliage with a maximum of three flowers arranged so that it can be held by one stem. No roses or rose leaves. The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, wire, stamens. All flowers and greenery to be made completely of icing. Display to be completely the competitor’s own choice. Total size to fit within a 40cm circumference. No height restriction.



5) Novelty Cake
Entry to be one tier only. The cake covering to be of the competitors choice but all decorations to be edible. Total base board not to exceed 31cm square. No height restriction.
Cleats must be attached to the bottom of the board.



6) Novelty Item
This can include plaques, pastillage or moulded shapes. Presentation is of competitor’s choice. Total exhibit must fit within a 31cm cube. Base board optional.


7) Miniature Formal Cake
This is to be for a formal occasion. The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, wire, stamens. Pillars suggest using covered toothpicks or satay sticks. This should be a scaled down version of a normal sized cake. Total base size 8cm and height restriction of 13cm. No cleats necessary.


7a) Miniature Formal Class Open (see definition)
This is for a formal occasion. A two tier cake separated (not stacked). The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, wire, stamens. Pillars suggest using covered toothpicks or satay sticks or separate cakes with silver or gold cashews. This should be a scaled down version of a normal sized cake. Total base size 8cm and height restriction of 13cm. No cleats necessary.


8) Mini Formal Cake
This is to be made from a fruit cake. Design a cake for Christmas Decorations to be competitors own choice. The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, wire, stamens. No larger than 10cm and no deeper than 5cm.
Total size. Base board and covered cake to fit a 13cm cube. No cleats necessary.


9) Miniature Novelty Cake
The following artificial aids may be used with discretion: tulle, ribbon, florist tape, wire, stamens. No larger than 10cm and no deeper than 5cm. Total exhibit must fit within a 13cm cube. No cleats necessary.

10) Cold Porcelain
This could be a hand held spray, posy, cascading spray or corsage. Display to be of competitor’s choice. A floral spray not to exceed a 40cm circumference. No height restriction.


11) Special Category for 2008 “ANGEL”
This is to be made of sugar not Cold Porcelain
One only. To be presented on a board no larger than 30 cm. Angel may be attached to the board. Decoration of the board is at the competitor’s discretion. Wooden skewers, toothpicks, dowelling, piping gel, glitter, lustre dust, wires and gelatine may be used in the construction of the Angel or ON the board with the competitor’s discretion. Angel only will be judged. Total exhibit including base board to fit within a 30cm cube.



Non Guild Classes


12) Non Guild Juvenile - open to Non Guild members only 12 years or under
Any type of icing work incorporating a cake. Decoration is the competitors choice but must be completely edible with the exception of ribbon, tulle, wire, posy picks and stamens.
Total base board not to exceed 31cm square. Cleats must be attached to the bottom of the board.

13) Non Guild Intermediate - open to Non Guild members only 13 to 17 years old
Entry as for Non Guild juvenile.

14) Non Guild Senior open to Non Guild members only who must be 18 years and over
Entry as for Non Guild juvenile.
